Dawson, Henry B.; Griswold, Abner Clarence Morrisania, NY Privately Issued 1860 Limited Edition - Numbered Three-Quarter Leather Good No Jacket Ex-Library Signed by Author "A Correspondence on this subject" (Israel Putnam) "with the editor of 'The Hartford Daily Post,' by 'Selah,' of that city, and Henry B. Dawson, of White Plains, N.Y." Initialed by author and numbered "No. 13" of edition limited to 250 copies. Presentation inscription by author on dedication page this copy was given by Dawson to the New England Historic-Genealogical Society on April 14, 1860. 169 pages unevenly cut. This copy has the Society's book plate on front endpapers and their embossed seal on title page. A few pencil marks on front endpapers otherwise clean. Small tear and erasure mark on top of blank page preceeding title page. Text is clean and undamaged. Leather backstrip appears to be missing and is covered with library binding tape which has library label and hand written title on spine. Marbled boards and leather corners shelfworn and lightly creased. Hinges reinforced. Barking Dog Books is a bricks and mortar independent bookstore.
